Consul attended the Somme Commemoration Service in Ayr, marking the 110th anniversary of the beginning of the Battle of the Somme during the First World War.

During the ceremony, the Consul read a moving wartime letter written by an Indian soldier Jemadar Singh to his family shortly before the battle began. The letter served as a powerful reminder of the courage and sacrifice of soldiers from across the world, including the Indian Army.

We continue to honour the bravery and service of the soldiers who served in the war.
