Important Information

a) Miscellaneous Consular Services

For the following Miscellaneous Consular Services, applicants under the jurisdiction of the Consulate General of India, Edinburgh will be able to book an appointment only after registering on the eSewa portal, uploading the required documents, and completing scrutiny by CGI, Edinburgh.

  1. Solemnization of Marriage
  2. Registration of Death
  3. Certificate for Transporting Dead Bodies to India
  4. Life Certificate for Pension Purpose or for any other purpose
  5. Attestation of Power of Attorney (PoA)/Affidavit(s) relating to Civil Matters
  6. Attestation of Power of Attorney (PoA)/Affidavit(s) relating to Property/Financial Matters
  7. Sworn Affidavit for Issuance of Passport to a Minor Child Residing in India

b) Before Booking an Appointment

Applicants are required to complete the application online for the particular service before booking an appointment.

RESCHEDULE APPOINTMENT

For rescheduling an appointment, please log in to your VFS portal and update the appointment date.

NO WALK-IN SERVICE

All applicants are advised to book the correct appointment in advance before visiting the VFS Centre for submission of documents.

There is currently no walk-in service. Applicants must select the correct service while booking an appointment. VFS will not accept incorrect appointments.

EMERGENCY PASSPORT SERVICE

Applicants who require passport services due to bereavement or a serious medical emergency may write to:

Applicants must provide full documentary evidence supporting the emergency.

VISA PROCESSING TIME

Please note that visa processing generally takes 10–15 days. This is subject to submission of complete documentation and fulfilment of all requisite requirements.
