Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Awards – 2027

Nomination process for the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Award (PBSA) for 2027, which are an integral part of the 19th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas to be held in January 2027, is now open.

The PBSA is the highest honour conferred upon overseas Indian diaspora by the Government of India, recognizing their contribution and achievements. PBSA is awarded to a Non-Resident Indian (NRI), Person of Indian Origin (PIO), or an organization or institution established by a PIO/NRI who has made significant contribution either overseas or in India, in any one of the following fields:

For Achievements Abroad

1. Better understanding of India;

2. Support for India's causes and concerns in a tangible way;

3. Building closer links between India, the overseas Indian community and their country of residence;

4. Social and humanitarian causes in India or abroad;

5. Welfare of the local Indian community;

6. Philanthropic and charitable work;

7. Eminence in one's field or outstanding work, which has enhanced India's prestige in the country of residence; or

8. Eminence in skills which has enhanced India's prestige in that country (for non-professional workers).

For Achievements within India

1. Philanthropic investments and charitable work in India;

2. Contribution made towards India's development.

Nominations:

1. Executive Heads of prominent Overseas Indian Associations with nation-wide character can send nominations for PBSAs, except their office-bearers.

2. Previous PBSA Awardees are also encouraged to nominate candidates for the Award.

3. Self-nomination by individuals or organizations is also permitted.

The nominations by individuals/organizations should be sent in soft copy to cons.edinburgh@mea.gov.in and original copy submitted latest by Friday, 20 March 2026 to the Consulate General of India, Edinburgh.
