Celebrating Indian Dance Traditions in Dundee
The Consulate General of India, Edinburgh, in association with Indian Council For Cultural Relations and Bharatiya Ashram presented “BHUMI & SUFIANA – Kathak & Chhau” at the Dudhope Multicultural Centre, Dundee.
The captivating performance by the ICCR troupe, choreographed by Ms. Maitreyee Pahari, beautifully showcased the elegance of Kathak and the dynamism of Chhau in a contemporary expression. The evening was warmly received by the audience and reflected the richness and diversity of India’s classical dance traditions.
Ahead of the performance, a Kathak & Chhau Dance Workshop was also organised at Bharatiya Ashram, Dundee. The interactive session offered participants a hands-on introduction to the techniques, rhythms, and storytelling elements of these classical forms, encouraging deeper cultural engagement and learning.
Grateful to ICCR, Bharatiya Ashram, the performers, and all participants for making both the performance and workshop a memorable celebration of Indian culture in Scotland.
