Lecture demonstration on ‘Natya’ or Dance in association with Thandavam School of Dance and Music on 26 November 2022 at 1700 hrs.

The Consulate General of India in Edinburgh is going to host a lecture demonstration on ‘Natya’ or Dance in association with Thandavam School of Dance and Music on 26 November 2022 at 1700 hrs. which will be presented by Dr. Vidhusi Jayanthi Raman.  A Poster of the event is attached.

Dr. Vidushi Jayanthi Raman and her sister Dr. Radhakrishnan will explain and demonstrate the different aspects of natya which includes 2 main components: ‘Nritya’ or foot work and 'Abinaya and Bhava' - facial expressions and storytelling.  Dr Raman will explain the different movements, postures focusing on the foot work and hand movements. 

The themes covered include a sacred invocation to the Supreme Being, alongside chronicling the stories of Krishna. Also included in this is the Thillana, a traditional finale to a Bharatanatyam performance. 

All community members of Indian diaspora & friends of India are cordially invited to attend the event on 26 November 2022 at the Indian Consulate – 17 Rutland Square, EH1 2BB (2nd Floor, Multi-Purpose hall, Chancery building).
