Urgent Notice to PIO card holders for conversion of their PIO cards into OCI cards before the last date, i.e., 30th June, 2017

Conversion of PIO Cards into OCI Cards extended until 30 June 2017

Indian nationals seeking assistance for returning to India voluntarily

Important Information for Applicants.

'To avoid inconvenience at the last moment applicants submitting documents for Consular Services at the Consulate are requested to carry with them exact amount of the prescribed fee(s) (including Consular Surcharge of GB £ 2, which should be given separately in coins as part of the fee, for which the mention is made on the Receipt given to the applicant), as there is no facility of providing loose coins at the Consulate towards balance of the amount tendered.'


With effect from 2nd March 2015, collection of applications and delivery of processed documents in respect of below-mentioned consular services have been outsourced to M/s VF Services UK Ltd. As such, with effect from 2nd March 2015, applicants for below-mentioned consular services are required to submit their applications only at the designated Indian Visa and Consular Services Centres (IVCSC) operated by M/s VF Service UK Ltd.:

A. Consular Services for which applications are required to be submitted at IVCSC operated by M/s VF Service UK Ltd.

  1. Attestation of Documents (Birth/Death/Marriage/Educational Certificates etc.)
  2. Attestation of Commercial Documents/ Company Documents
  3. Attestation of Documents for Making Application for Allotment of Director Identification Number (DIN)
  4. Attestation of Documents for Making Application for Allotment of Permanent Account Number (PAN) in respect of UK Based Companies or Individuals
  5. Police Clearance Certificate (PCC)
  6. NRI Certificate / NRI Parity Certificate
  7. Attestation of Copy of Indian Passport or any Other Miscellaneous Certificate (s) based on Indian Passport
  8. Attestation of Sponsorship Letter for Visit of a Person from India to the UK
  9. Certificate for Transporting Human Ashes/ Human Remains to India.

B. For below-mentioned consular services, applications are required to be submitted at the Consulate General of India, Edinburgh, in person, between 0930hrs and 1230 hrs on all working days:

  1. Birth Registration of Children eligible for Indian nationality
  2. Attestation of Power of Attorney (PoA)/Affidavit (s) relating to Civil Matters
  3. Attestation of Power of Attorney (PoA)/Affidavit (s) relating to Property/ Financial Matters
  4. Sworn Affidavit for Issuance of Passport to a Minor Child Residing in India
  5. Life Certificate for Pension Purpose or for any Other Purpose
  6. Execution of Will/ Gift Deed
  7. Certificate for Transporting Dead Bodies to India
