Unveiling Programme of the Bronze Statue of Mahatma Gandhi

In a special program organized by the Consulate General of India, Edinburgh in association with the City Council of South Ayrshire, the first-ever Bronze Statue of Mahatma Gandhi was installed at the iconic Townhall of South Ayrshire.

The Consul General of India in Edinburgh, Mrs. Anju Ranjan and the Provost of South Ayrshire Mrs. Helen Moonie unveiled the plaque of the statue witnessed by the VVIP inter alias Members of Parliament, councilors, academicians, heads of Community organizations, representatives of the army and police Scotland.Consul General Mrs. Anju Ranjan in her speech applauded the efforts of the sculptor Gautam Pal, who sculpted the statue. A similar statue of Father of the Nation has been installed at Washington DC and Moscow and was unveiled by then Prime Minister of India and President of the host country.The first-ever statue of Mahatma Gandhi, father of the nation shall bring two countries together in spreading the message of peace and nonviolence.In the day reception later hosted by the City Council, the Consul General spoke about the message of Mahatma Gandhi and his life journey.The cultural performance was marked by the ‘ Vaishnav jan to' Bhajan by Mrs Preetha Nirmala , Bharatanatyam by a troupe of Dr. Radha Krishnan,Fiedel orchestra and magnificent highland dance by local school children.
