Ratha Yatra in Edinburgh - Sunday, June 25, 2017

          The Consulate General of India, Edinburgh, in association with the local Oriya community and Edinburgh Hindu Mandir & Cultural Centre (EHMCC), organised a Ratha Yatra procession followed by 56 bhog prasad to the devotees and participants. The idols of Shri Jagannath, Shri Balabhadra and Mata Subhadra were obtained from Puri, India and were decorated with traditional dresses and jewellery.  A chariot to be pulled by devotee was designed on a huge carrier truck.  A stage was mounted with a temple style decoration by marquee cloths.  The three idols were placed on the highest pedestals and chief priest of the temple and a priest from Puri was called to conduct the procession rituals on board.  

2.      The Dhollu Kunitha troupe sponsored by the ICCR and The Nehru Centre, London performed in the procession and also in front of the Hindu Mandir.  Hundreds of devotees danced on the streets on the Bhakti tunes by the Dhollu Kunitha troupe.
